About The Middle Tennessee Swim
Club (MTSC)
The Middle Tennessee Swim Club is an age-group swim program designed to
work with kids between the ages of 7 and 18. We are based in the City of
Lebanon, Tennessee and have three training
locations, the City of Lebanon's Jimmy Floyd Family Center, The Sea Star Swim
School in Hendersonville and Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. We are a year round swim program and member
of United States Swimming, the national governing body for amateur competitive
swimming in the United States. The Middle Tennessee Swim Club is a member of the Southeastern
Swimming LSC. The Middle Tennessee Swim Club offers various aquatic programs to meet the needs
of all swimmers from novice through the masters level.
History
In May of 1996, fifteen swimmers gathered at the Academy Center in Hendersonville
for their first practice. The group’s aspiration was to form a swim team that would function on a year round basis. The team was formed
and the group’s first meet was October 5th, 1996 at the Gallatin Civic
Center. By mid-summer of 1998, Academy Center Aquatics grew to nearly
eighty swimmers primarily from Sumner and Wilson Counties, and at the end
of the 1998 long course season the team changed it’s name to the Middle
Tennessee Swim Club (MTSC). In January of 2005 MTSC moved its' operating
base to Lebanon. Today, MTSC has nearly 120 active swimmers
that train at the City of Lebanon's Jimmy Floyd Family Center, the
Sea Star Swim School in Hendersonville and Tennessee Tech
University in Cookeville.
About
the Flags
People always ask us, “what’s up with the flags on your T-shirts”?
It’s very simple. The flags represent who we are and where our swimmers
come from! Of course the USA flag represents about 95% of our team,
and we are also proud of and have learned a lot from swimmers on our team
that have come from Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Germany, Guatemala,
Mexico, Puerto Rico, Romania, Venezuela, and Poland!
