Many people that visit Old San Juan arrive via a cruise ship and are very disappointed mostly due to the large crowds and very little time allotted to see the sights. A cruise ship is no way to explore any island or a historic city! We rented apartments and stayed for eleven days in the heart of the old city. We had plenty of time to shop and find small local places that served typical food. We had time to peak into nearly every store along Fortaleza, San Francisco and Cristo Streets. We heard more than forty different musical groups that played during the San Juan Culinary Food Festival. The kids had a night out on La Rumba Party Cruise as fireworks dotted the night sky..............and that wasn't even half of our adventure!
