Hendersonville, TN.....Hendersonville High School Swimmers Cody Chlasta and Abigail Anderson were named Sumner County Swimmers Of The Year for 2008. Tennessee High School State Meet Summary: 02/07/2008: Tennessee State Championships Start Tommorow! Hendersonville, TN.....MTSC Swimmers that will compete in the state meet include Kyle Presson of Cumberland County High School and Abigail Anderson, Cody Chlasta, Jordan Marez, Warren Smythe and Chris Stubbs of Hendersonville High School. Also, Coach Cindy will be on deck coaching Lebanon High School while Vicki Presson will be on deck coaching Cumberland County! If you are going to watch finals, the start time is 6:00 PM. Parking will be tough so plan on arriving early. Enjoy the atmosphere. This is an exciting meet for our younger swimmers to watch.
11/12/2007: Martha Bass Meet Report: Hendersonville, TN.....We mentioned yesterday that Christopher Biller and Abigail Anderson each won an event at the Martha Bass Meet. There were some other great swims to note! Tucker Been and Olivia Been added new SES Q-times. How about this for huge time drops?! Chloe Blansett improved 10.46 seconds in the 50 free, Mac Brown shaved 20.86 seconds off of his 100 I.M., Xavier Brown cut 12.94 off of the 200 free, Lauren Cooksey established 5 new personal best times, shaving an average of 4.65 seconds off of each event! The Corley Trio showed that hard work pays off with some nice time drops while Dallas Eidson had nice freestyle improvements. Melissa Guo nearly broke the 30 second barrier in the 50 fly, stopping the clock in 30.11, while Tammy Guo dropped 10.81 seconds in the 50 back.
11/16/2007: Abigail Anderson Signs With Kansas!

Abigail Anderson signed today with Kansas University! KU is located in
Lawrence, Kansas and is a member of the Big 12 Conference. Kansas is coached by
Clark Campbell. Abigail was recruited to KU to swim the backstroke and distance
free events. She plans on working towards a degree in journalism. You can read

our local newspapers. Abigail is the daughter of Nita and Bud Anderson. 10/15/2007: Patterson Wins 4 Events At NAC Meet! Hendersonville, TN.....MTSC's Charlsi Jayne Patterson (CJP) led MTSC as she captured four first place wins at the NAC October Open this past weekend! CJP won the 8 and under girls 25 back, 50 back, 50 free and 100 free! CJP also added third place finishes in the 25 free and 100 IM.
07/27/2007: MTSC Swimmers To Open Short Course Season In Brentwood! Lebanon, TN.....MTSC will begin the 2007-2008 Short Course Season In Brentwood at the XCEL Aquatics Fall Fest Meet which is scheduled to be held September 21-23. In October, MTSC swimmers will compete in the Nashville Aquatic Club October Open at the Sportsplex to be held October 12-14. A complete 2007-2008 meet schedule will be posted soon.
07/22/2007: SES Championships Sunday Summary! Annie K. sets another SES Record! Nashville, TN.....In this evening's finals, Annie Kyriakidis finished in 4th place in the 50 butterfly! Seth Kyriakidis finished in 5th place in the 100 breast while Abigail Anderson finished in 7th place in the 100 backstroke.
Brentwood, TN...Annie Kyriakidis set a new Southeastern Swimming Record this morning at Brentwood in the 10 and under girls 50 butterfly. Annie's time of 36.54 established a new SES record for 8 and under girls. The twenty year old record was held by Lee Ann Gathings (set in 1987) and her time was 36.78. This swim was Annie's fourth SES record established in 2007! Seth Kyriakidis also qualified in 5th place for the finals this evening in the 10 and under boys 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:38.49. Olivia Been had two personal best times in both the 50 butterfly (40.65) and the 100 breast (1:42.41). Also swimming this morning were Sarah Bush and Melissa Guo.
Nashville, TN.....Abigail Anderson qualified for the finals this evening in the senior women 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.97. Finals begin at 5:00 P.M.
07/21/2007: SES Championships Saturday Summary! Nashville, TN.....Andrew Sigfusson finished in 16th place in the Senior 50 Freestyle this evening with a time of 25.86.
Nashville, TN.....This morning at the Sportsplex, Andrew Sigfusson finished in 15th place in the Senior men's 50 free. Sigfusson's time of 25.68 is also a new team record. Finals begin at 5:30 PM.
Brentwood, TN...Twins Seth and Annie Kyriakidis set new team records this morning at Brentwood. Seth dropped close to 5 seconds in the 200 I.M. with a time of 2:15.30, while Annie swam a 33.65 in the 50 free. Olivia Been improved in the 50 free with a new best time of 35.07 and Brett Oesterle swam in the SES Championship Meet for the very first time.
07/20/2007: SES Championships Friday Summary! Nashville, TN.....In this evening's finals, Seth Kyriakidis finished in fifth place in the 10 and under boys 50 breaststroke with a time of 44.66! This was Seth's first time swimming in a SES Championship Meet. Also, Abigail Anderson finished 11th place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:28.41.
Brentwood, TN.....Eight year old Seth Kyriakidis qualified fifth place for tonight's finals in the 10 and under 50 meter breaststroke! The race will include 5 ten year olds, 2 nine year olds and Seth is the only eight year old to make the final! Also swimming for MTSC this morning were Olivia Been, Tucker Been, Annie Kyriakidis and Melissa Guo. All four performed very well in the breaststroke events in their respective age-groups.
Nashville, TN.....Abigail Anderson, Kelli Novak and Andrew Sigfusson competed this morning at the Sportsplex in the 13 and over categories and had rougher outings than expected. Nevertheless, Anderson qualified in 11th position in the 200 backstroke and will have the opportunity to swim again this evening. Novak, an incoming freshman at Marshall University was a little off in the 100 breast, while Sigfusson, a sophmore at Denver University could not overcome a very poor start. Finals begin this evening at 5:30 PM.
07/19/2007: SES Championships Open In Nashville! Nashville, TN.....The Southeastern Swimming Championships started this afternoon in Nashville with distance freestyle events. Eight year old Seth Kyriakidis finished 10th place in the 10 and under boys 400 freestyle with a time of 5:57.95! Kyriakidis's chopped an impresive 45 seconds off of his previous best time of 6:43.22. Ten year old Olivia Been also swam a best time of 6:19.42 in the 10 and under girls 400 free, nearly a ten second improvement! The swims were team records for both Been and Kyriakidis in their age-group. The swim meet resumes the next three mornings at 9:00 AM in Brentwood for 12 and under swimmers and again in Nashville for the 13 and older swimmers.
07/10/2007: Wilmarie Velez signs with New Mexico! Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico.....MTSC swimmer and recent Hendersonville High School Graduate Wilmarie Velez signed today with the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. New Mexico is a Division 1 school and a member of the Mountain West Conference. The Lobos are led by head coach Tracy Ljone and assisted by Leslie Smith. Wilmarie is a 2007 High School All-American and she plans on majoring in communications. Wilmarie is the daughter of Wilma Santiago and Freddy Velez.
07/08/2007: Seth Kyriakidis sets eight new team records in Chattanooga! Chattanooga, TN....Eight year old Seth Kyriakidis established eight new team records in the eight and under boys category this past weekend at the Baylor Bullfrog Invitational. All eight records were records that he already held. Seth's sister Annie established four new team records in the eight and under girls events at the same meet. Also participating this past weekend were Sarah Bush, Kelsie Crotts, Melissa Guo, Tammy Guo, Emily Loftis, Brett Oesterle, Barbara Vanderveer and Emily Whobrey.
06/25/2007: MTSC Swimmers Dominate All-County Team! Anderson Female Swimmer Of The Year! Hendersonville, TN....The Star News named the 2007 Sumner County All-Star Team last week. Abigail Anderson was named swimmer of the year in 2005 and 2006 and this year she shared the honor. She becomes the first swimmer to capture the swimmer of the year award for three consecutive years. MTSC was well represented on this year's team. Making the team were Caleb Hayes, Chris Stubbs, Cody Chlasta, C.S. Kammerzell, Eric Arnold, Faith Creekmore, Kevin Coffey, Patrick Corcoran, Wilmarie Velez and Warren Smythe.
06/24/2007: Anderson 7th in 200 Back At Summer Sizzler! Nashville, TN....In this evening's finals, Abigail Anderson finished 7th place in the senior women's 200 back with a time of 2:26.52! Although her time was not a personal best, her performance was a positive step after a very difficult junior year.
Brentwood, TN....In this morning's swim meet in Brentwood, MTSC swimmers Annie and Seth Kyriakidis broke team records in the 8 and under 100 meter free and 100 meter back. With the addition of these records, the twins each own all of the 8 and under long course records in individual events! Sarah Bush had a personal best time in the 200 IM and Megan Martin had great swims in the 100 back and 100 free.
06/23/2007: Saturday Summer Sizzler Summary: Brentwood, TN....In Brentwood this morning MTSC swimmers had major improvements in the breaststroke events! In the 11-12 girls 100 breast, Lauren Cooksey chopped 10.51 seconds off of her time while Sarah Bush cut 7.23 off of her seed time. Eleven year-old Tucker Been improved by 2.33 in his 100 breast and Brett Oesterle shaved 3.78 seconds off of his best time. Nine year-old Olivia Been dropped 5.98 seconds and Annie Kyriakidis sliced 2.72 seconds. Seth Kyriakidis had a phenomenal time drop of 13.11 seconds in his 100 breast! Lebanon resident Hailey Gatlin competed for the first time in a long course meet and contributed as a member of the ten and under girls 200 free relay!
Nashville, TN....In this evening's finals, Abigail Anderson finished in 14th place with a time of 1:09.00. New swimmers Abbie Wood, Evan Corley and Rachel Corley had nice improvements in the morning preliminary session.
06/22/2007: Sarah, Olivia, Annie & Seth Acheive SES Q-Times! Brentwood, TN....The Nashville Aquatic Club Summer Sizzler opened today at the Williamson County Indoor Sports Complex in Brentwood and the Sportsplex in Nashville. The Summer Sizzler has emerged over the years as one of the top age-group swim meets in the nation. 12 and under MTSC swimmers that participated in Brentwood included Olivia Been, Tucker Been, Sarah Bush, Kristen Corley, Kelsie Crotts, Annie Kyriakidis, Seth Kyriakidis, Megan Martin and Brett Oesterle.
Eleven year-old Sarah Bush established a SES long course qualifying time in the 50 butterfly, posting a time of 35.40. Nine year-old Olivia Been achieved a new SES cut in the 200 free with a time of 2:58.36, while Annie Kyriakidis also added a cut in the same event with a 2:52.00. Also in the 200 free, Seth Kyriakidis added a qualifying time in the 200 free with a time of 2:56.95.
Top sixteen finishes included: Sarah Bush 15th place in the 11 & 12 girls 50 fly; Olivia Been 9th place in the 10 and under girls 50 breast; Seth Kyriakidis 7th place in the 10 and under boys 50 breast and 9th place in the 10 and under boys 200 free and Annie Kyriakidis 10th place in the 10 and under girls 50 fly, 11th place in the 50 breast and 16th place in the 200 free.
Representing MTSC in the 13 and older meet at the Sportsplex today were Faith Creekmore, Kelli Novak, Jon Myers, Barbara Vanderveer and Jack LeMaire. Jon Myers qualified for the bonus final of the Open 100 breast but had to scratch this evening's finals session due to work obligations.
05/07/2007: Four Swimmers Achieve SES Qualifying Times At Huntsville! Huntsville, AL....Eleven MTSC swimmers participated this past weekend at the Ken Rochester Memorial Swim Meet in Huntsville, Alabama. Making the trip for the first long course meet of the summer were Melissa and Tammy Guo, Abigail Anderson, Annie and Seth Kyriakidis, Brett Oesterle, Lauren Cooksey, Parker Eidson, Kelli Novak and Olivia and Tucker Been. Swimmers that achieved new SES Long Course Time Standards included Melissa Guo (11-12 girls 50 and 100 breast), Olivia Been (10 & U girls 50 free, 400 free and 50 breast), Seth Kyriakidis (10 & U boys 50 free, 50 back, 50 breast, 200 IM and 400 free) and Annie Kyriakidis (10 & U girls 50 free, 50 back, 50 breast, 100 fly, 200 IM and 400 free). Next up for MTSC is a meet at Baylor in Chattanooga later this month.
Top eight finishes in Huntsville included: Abigail Anderson, 1st in the senior 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM and 5th in the 50 free; Olivia Been, 3rd in the 10 and under 50 breast, 4th in the 200 IM, 50 free, 100 back and 50 back, 5th in 50 fly, 100 breast, 100 free and 400 free; Tucker Been, 8th in the 11-12 boys 50 breast and 200 free; Sarah Bush, 6th in the 11-12 girls 50 fly and 100 fly; Parker Eidson, 5th in the 13-14 boys 200 breast and 8th in the 100 back, 100 breast and 50 free; Melissa Guo, 3rd in the 11-12 girls 100 breast, 4th in the 50 breast and 8th in the 50 fly; Annie Kyriakidis, 1st in the 8 and under girls 50 free, 50 fly, 50 breast, 50 back and 100 free, 3rd in the 10 and under girls 200 IM, 100 back, 100 fly and 400 free; Seth Kyriakidis, 1st in the 8 and under boys 50 free, 50 breast, 50 back and 100 free, 2nd in the 50 fly, 4th in the 10 and under boys 400 free, 6th in the 200 IM and 7th in the 100 fly; Kelli Novak, 1st in the senior girls 100 and 200 breast; Brett Oesterle, 7th in the 10 and under boys 50 fly, 8th in the 50 free, 100 free and 50 breast.
05/04/2007: Kelli Novak Signs With Marshall University! Mt. Juliet, TN.....MTSC High School Senior Kelli Novak signed at 11:20 AM this morning her National Letter Of Intent to attend Marshall University! Marshall is located in Huntington, West Virginia and is a member of Conference USA. The Thundering Herd is coached by head coach Leonard Kraus and assisted by Megan Geers. Congratulations to Kelli, Regi and Van!

05/03/2007: Nathan Morris Signs With Darton College! Lebanon, TN....Lebanon High School Senior and MTSC swimmer Nathan Morris signed this past Thursday morning with Darton College! Darton is a two year junior college located in Albany, Georgia. The Darton Cavaliers are coached by Chris Maiello. Nathan plans on studying marketing. Morris also won the State Culinary Arts Competition and has been offered several more scholarships. He will participate this July in the National Culinary Arts Competition. Congratulations to Nathan and his family!

03/18/2007: Annie Kyriakidis Shatters SES 50 Fly Mark! Hendersonville, TN....Only one week after an incredible East District Meet, 8 year old Annie Kyriakidis continued to re-write the SES record book. This time the venue was the Sportsplex at the SES Short Course Championships hosted by the Nashville Aquatic Club. On Sunday evening Annie placed third in the 10 and under girls 50 butterfly, posting an incredible time of 31.79! Her time eclipsed the SES 8 and under record which was 33.50. Kyriakidis has also broken SES records this season in the 25 free and fly. Also on Sunday evening, Wilmarie Velez finished in 5th place in the Senior Girls 200 butterfly and 15th place in the Senior 100 back.
Nine year old Olivia Been shaved time in both the 50 and 100 yard breaststroke events. Olivia was the top nine year old in the 50 breast. Melissa Guo also swam to two personal best times in the 11 and 12 girls breaststroke events. Parker Eidson and Kelli Novak also represented MTSC in the meet.
03/12/2007: Huge Weekend For MTSC Swimmers At East Districts! Hendersonville, TN....Twenty MTSC swimmers competed this past weekend at the SES East Districts, held at the McCallie School in Chattanooga! Records were set, there were many top finishes and many personal best times were established across the board! Representing MTSC were Chloe Blansett, Cody Bray, Ciara Burgess, Sarah Bush, Lauren Cooksey, Kelsie Crotts, Dallas Eidson, Parker Eidson, Abbie Gregory, Melissa Guo, Tammy Guo, Annie Kyriakidis, Seth Kyriakidis, Jack LeMaire, Megan Martin, Brett Oesterle, Charlsi Jayne Patterson, Kyle Presson, Lee Presson and Macey Sommers.
In the 8 and under SES championship portion, twins Annie and Seth Kyriakidis dominated! Both were the high point champions with Annie winning 8 events and Seth winning 7 events. Annie also eclipsed two SES records, setting new marks in the 25 free (13.53) and 25 fly (14.77)! Parker Eidson achieved three SES qualifying times in the 11-12 boys 50 free, 50 breast and 100 breast! Swimmers recording top eight finishes apart from the above mentioned include Sarah Bush, Kelsie Crotts, Melissa Guo, Jack LeMaire, Kyle Presson and Macey Sommers! 02/25/2007: Creekmore, Anderson and Velez Make All-American Team! Hendersonville, TN....Many MTSC swimmers competed this past weekend at the Tennessee High School State Swimming Championships held at the Sportsplex. An outstanding performance was turned in by Abigail Anderson, Faith Creekmore and Wilmarie Velez, as they were part of Hendersonville High School's relay that finished in 6th place! Their time of 1:49.34 is an Automatic All-American qualifying time! Later Friday evening, Abigail Anderson finished 14th in the 200 I.M. with a time of 2:12.04 while Wilmarie Velez finished 6th in the 100 fly with a time of 57.74. Velez's prelim time of 57.62 is an All-American consideration time. Kevin Coffey added a 14th place finish in the 50 free with a time of 22.67.
On Saturday, Cody Chlasta opened the evening with a 13th place finish in the 100 free with a time of 49.23. Faith Creekmore finished 13th in the 500 free with a personal best of 5:22.17. In the boys 200 free relay, Kevin Coffey, Cody Chlasta, Patrick Corcoran and Eric Arnold finished in 10th with a time of 1:31.22. In the girls 100 back, Abigail Anderson finished 6th in 59.13 and in the 100 breast Kelli Novak was 14th in 1:09.51. In the boys 400 free relay the Hendersonville team of Cody Chlasta, Kevin Coffey, Chris Stubbs and C.S. Kammerzell finished in 11th place with a time of 3:23.39. The Hendersonvill girls team which included Wilmarie Velez, Faith Creekmore and Abigail Anderson finished 6th with a time of 4:40.16. 02/24/2007: Tennessee State Meet Opens Today In Nashville! Hendersonville, TN....The Tennessee High School State Meet begins this morning at 9:45 AM at the Sportsplex in Nashville. Friday's finals will begin at 6 PM. Prelims on Saturday will begin at 9:30 AM with finals again at 6 PM. Updates can be found here for MTSC swimmers. 02/12/2007: Nice Swims For MTSC Athletes At Mid-State Region Meet! Hendersonville, TN....This past Friday hundreds of swimmers participated in the Mid-State Regional Meet at the Sportsplex which is the final tune-up before the State Championships. Several MTSC Swimmers posted new best times, and the 200 medley relay team of Abigail Anderson, Faith Creekmore, Wilmarie Velez and Alexandra Pierce (NAC) achieved an All-American Consideration Time for their efforts! 02/05/2007: Annie Does It Again! Olivia Picks Up Breaststroke Cuts In Huntsville! Hendersonville, TN....Fourteen MTSC Swimmers participated at the HSA Groundhog Invitational last weekend at the Brahan Springs Natatorium in Huntsville. Eight year old Annie Kyriakids broke her own Southeastern Swimming Record in the 25 butterfly with a lightening quick time of 14.85! Kyriakidis initially broke the record last October with a time of 15.01. Annie won 7 more events, broke 7 team records and captured the 8 and under girls high point award! Seth Kyriakidis also won the high point award for 8 and under boys. Seth had three first place finishes, three second place finishes, four third place finishes and six new team records! Nine year old Olivia Been had an outstanding meet picking up SES qualifying standards in the 10 and under girls 50 and 100 breaststroke! Olivia had seven top eight finishes in her events. MTSC swimmers also posting top eight finishes included Cody Bray, Melissa Guo and Macey Sommers. Also competing were Tucker Been, Ciara Burgess, Sarah Bush, Jessica Camp, Tammy Guo, Seth Landers, Brett Oesterle and Emily Whobrey.
02/08/2007: MTSC Swimmers Set To Compete In Mid-State Regional Championships! Hendersonville, TN....Sixteen MTSC swimmers will compete tomorrow in the 2007 Mid-State Regional Swimming Championships at the Sportsplex in Nashville. This competition is expected to draw hundreds of swimmers and is the final tune-up for the State Championships. Swimmers representing Lebanon High School are Amber Hall, Andrea Mason, Nathan Morris and Erin Sawyer. Swimming for JPII will be Ryan Moore. Hendersonville High School will be represented by Abigail Anderson, Cody Chlasta, Patrick Corcoran, Faith Creekmore, C.S. Kammerzell, Jordan Marez, Chris Stubbs and Wilmarie Velez. Representing Cumberland County High School will be Kyle Presson. Wilson County Home School Student Kelli Novak and Putnam County Home School Student Jack LeMaire will also compete. The competition is scheduled to begin at noon.
